Do you know ?? That Agriculture was the first occupation of man. The history of agriculture began thousands of years ago. It is the foundation of all other industries.

Purpose of Agriculture: Its purpose is to produce food and other human needs such as clothing, shelter, medicines, weapons, tools, ornaments & livestock feeding.

We humans are not said to be completely developed until and unless we use our knowledge and technology to better agriculture that helps us get our food easily and purely.

In the beginning, humans had been spending their life wildly, but later they started to pet sheep and goats, although the first pet animal was a dog, which was used for hunting. The history of agriculture and civilization go hand in hand as food production made it possible for primitive man to settle down in selected areas leading to the formation of society and initiation of civilization.

With the spectacular achievement in the field of agricultural sciences, India has been able to reach the stage of self-sufficiency in agricultural production. But, in this change, we overlooked and rejected sustainable natural farming systems and moved towards “exploitative”
agriculture with increased dependency on farm machinery and chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, etc.), which proved counterproductive and resulted in depletion of soil and water resources, increase in the desert and climatic disturbances, natural calamities, deterioration of the environment, and unprecedented fuelwood cries.

The best solution to this problem could be to blend modern technology with the traditional one. The integration of scientific and traditional knowledge would help, to develop technologies, which are need-based, better problem-solving, locally available, easily acceptable, cost-effective, convincing, and credible to the rural clientele.

“In olden times there were warriors, farmers, craftsmen, and merchants. Agriculture was said to be closer to the source of things than trade or manufacturing, and the farmer was said to be “the cupbearer of the gods.” He was always able to get by somehow or other and have enough to eat.”

― Masanobu Fukuoka, ‘The One-Straw Revolution’.
